I went to the library last week and found some pretty interesting books related to this project:

RESEARCH! THEORY!  CULTURAL STUDIES!

How exciting.

Also, my adviser recommended that I watch a short film by David Byrne called Ilé Aiyé (The House of Life) – it was really great. The subject matter doesn’t really fit with Who’s Emma, it’s about an African spirit cult in Bahia, Brazil. But I think I just might end up appropriating some of Byrne’s frame inside of frame style. Watch out.
